About the Parish

Locking is a  Civil Parish in North Somerset, England. It is a predominantly quiet residential area of North Somerset, 3.5 miles (5.6 km) south east of the town of Weston-super-Mare. It sits within the Weston-super-Mare and Villages parliamentary constituency, John Penrose MP is the duly elected representative.

As well as a Doctors Surgery and dispensing Pharmacy the Parish  has 2 community halls and a church hall, Church, 2 Pre-Schools, 2 Primary Schools, a Post Office and many other local businesses.

Locking Jubilee Committee

Locking Parish non-profit Groups/ Organisations and charities are invited to come along and fundraise by having a stall or running a fun activity at our Community Event – The Big Picnic Lunch to be held on Friday 3 June 2022 at Old Banwell Road Playing Field – welcoming the whole community to celebrate and take part in a fun filled day – please contact the Clerk to register your Group/ Organisation or Charity letting us know who your raising money for and why – clerk@lockingparishcouncil.co.uk

If you are profit-making enterprise local to Locking Parish and want to have a stall please contact the Clerk for further details and cost of pitch hire.

We are looking for volunteers to help with the following:

·         Set up and clear away on the day

·         Marshals

·         Anyone with a van to help move various equipment on the day

·         Anyone with a mini bus to transport our elderly residents or anyone with mobility problems to and from the event

·         We would like to borrow or hire a generator and some Heras fencing

The next planning meeting will be on the 24 May at 7pm in the Parish Hall and we welcome anyone who would like to put an idea forward and volunteers to help out on the day – if you can’t make this meeting but still want to help out, please contact the Clerk: clerk@lockingparishcouncil.co.uk

As of 05/05/2022 If you are interested in becoming a Parish Councillor, there are three vacancies on the Parish Council. This is the link for more information.


Defibrillator situated at the front of Locking Parish Hall - Thanks to all who have supported the effort to get it here. Don’t forget fundraising goes on to obtain a second one for elsewhere in the parish.Defibrillator

We are also looking for a volunteer to carry out monthly checks on the defibrillator.
